Literary Festival Highlights New Faces of Education
The 3rd Annual Literary Indulgence Book Festival, organized by Literary Indulgence of Jacksonville, takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., July 18, at FSCJ Kent Campus in Jacksonville. The free community event brings together authors, educators, readers and aspiring writers while exploring the role education plays in shaping creative and professional journeys.
Founded by author and communications professional Marie Morton, Literary Indulgence of Jacksonville continues to expand its role within the region’s literary community. Morton brings more than 20 years of experience in corporate communications, nonprofit fundraising, event coordination and editorial services. She recently established Literary Indulgence of Jacksonville, LLC, following the publication of two short stories, Jordyn’s Christmas Gift and Maiya’s New Year’s Wish, and the release of her novella, A Twist of Fate at the Matchmaker’s Inn.
Now in its third year, the Literary Indulgence Book Festival showcases 40 multi-genre authors and centers its 2026 programming on the theme, “The New Faces of Education.” The event features keynote author Nikesha Elise Williams, whose work includes The Seven Daughters of Dupree. A featured session moderated by educator and author Rekia Beverly examines how educational experiences influence creative development and career paths.
Additional programming includes discussions featuring Duval County Public School Teacher of the Year finalists Michelle Flores and Petika Tave, along with S.E. Smith, Frank Goodin II and Mariah Jones. The festival also includes a collaboration with Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville, master classes, a Super Story Writing Workshop for children ages 6 to 12 led by Brianna Ellis and a bookbag and school supply giveaway presented in partnership with the Green Sims Williams Family Foundation.
