Recovery Dharma

Recovery Dharma is a peer-led recovery approach that uses Buddhist principles and meditation to support healing from addiction of all kinds.

Recovery Dharma is a peer-led, non-theistic recovery path that uses Buddhist teachings and practices to help individuals heal from addiction of all kinds. It centers on the Four Noble Truths, understanding that suffering is part of life, that craving and attachment contribute to that suffering, and that freedom is possible through a path of mindful, intentional living.

Participants are encouraged to develop a personal recovery plan grounded in meditation, ethical living, and wisdom. Meetings often include group meditation, readings from the Recovery Dharma book, and open sharing in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. Rather than relying on a higher power, the program emphasizes self-inquiry, personal responsibility, and the strength found in community.

The practice also highlights compassion—for oneself and others—recognizing that recovery is not about perfection, but about progress and continued growth. Through consistent practice, members work to let go of harmful patterns, build healthier relationships, and cultivate a more peaceful and purposeful life.
